Hi, I’m Dikla, but you can call me Dee!

Welcome! I’m the face, voice, and spatula behind One Sarcastic Baker. If you’re here, you likely share my love (or obsession) with pastries, butter, and all things sweet. You’re in good company.

I was born and raised in Israel and moved to the U.S. in 2008 after falling in love with my American husband. That transition came with its challenges leaving behind family, friends, and my culture, but it also introduced me to baking in a whole new way. What began as a comforting creative outlet quickly turned into a lifelong passion.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a pastry chef assistant, cake decorator, and small business owner of a Jewish baking venture. Eventually, I took a leap of faith and started One Sarcastic Baker to share my love of baking, culture, and food science.

But baking, for me, is more than just flavor—it’s science. I’ve spent the last decade studying the “why” behind every texture, rise, and crumb. In 2022, I published my first cookbook, Baking Science, to share that passion with others who are curious about how ingredients work together.
